11 reasons why Shoreditch is the best location for your business

Location! Location! location!

Finding the right location for your business really could be the difference between success and failure. Does the area represent your brand's personality? Will you be able to attract the right staff? Are you in easy reach of your potential clients? Are you working around like-minded businesses you can potentially collaborate with? Are there things to do at lunch-time or after work that will be good for employees' satisfaction and well-being?

Shoreditch is an area synonymous with culture, fashion, technology, entrepreneurship and fun; and we love working here.

But why is Shoreditch the best location for your business? From markets and ball pits to bars and Michelin stars, here's our 11 reasons why...

#1. Street art in Shoreditch

Marvel at London's best street art.  Toynbee Street, for example, presents fascinating pictures like the one below by street artist Jim Vision in memory of a hero of his (and of many people): the late Stan Lee who passed away in November 2018 and was Marvel Comics creative leader for seven decades. Admire the ever changing artwork on your commute, or even take a walking tour to find out more.

#2. Free food tour

Forget spending £60 just for a tour - Strawberry fields runs this East End Food Tour for free and you decide how much you eat and therefore spend. The tour starts at Shoreditch High Street Station at 10.30 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays & Sundays. A nice team building exercise or go out on your own.

#3 Relax after work

Have you had a busy day at work? In need of a relaxing evening on your own, with colleagues or a loved one? Shoreditch offers dedicated art attractions such as the awesome Electric Cinema on Redchurch Street – a luxurious viewing experience, complete with blankets, comfortable couches and good wine!

#4 Michelin starred restaurants

Shoreditch is all grown up and now boasts four Michelin starred restaurants which is the perfect way to impress a client or reward a team member.

The Clove Club led the way in 2014 with its focus on high quality, often-overlooked ingredients presented in a delectable tasting menu.

Next up is Lyle's, which entered the Michelin Guide 2016 and was described at the time by the guide's Twitter feed as urban. But that really is in comparison to the traditional dining rooms that often make the list. Go to Lyle's for its daily changing British tasting menu that's just £59.

Having started out in London Fields as Ellory, Leroy, moved to Shoreditch in early 2018, and seven months later it scooped up a coveted Michelin Star. Small sharing dishes dominate and with its Parisian influence (on decor and menu), it's no surprise that the wine list is superb.

Brat was also a precious newcomer to the Michelin Star scene, having been awarded one just six months after opening. Based in a former East End strip club, the owners have left the wood panelling and character features of the old pub. Expect fish and Turbot ('Brat' is its slang word) and a lively atmosphere.

#5 Excellent street food surrounded by street art

Shoreditch is famous for its street food seven days a week. Brick Lane is a great place to go during your lunch-time to grab a bite while enjoying the fascinating street art all around. How’s that for multi-tasking?!

Brick lane is also home to much-loved Beigel Bake, open 24 hours a day and host to a huge market on Sundays, offering a range of global street food.

#6 Impressive clients with these unique bars

Want to give clients an evening to remember? Bounce Ping Pong offers a truly distinctive experience by filling a bar with ping pong tables and doubling as a restaurant.

Alternatively, try Ballie Ballerson – the world renowned cocktail bar and ball pit with 1 million balls! Whether you’re in the VIP section, on the dance floor, or going crazy in one of the ball pits, it’s an experience that will keep you and colleagues smiling for hours.

#7 XOYO

XOYO is one of the most fashionable clubbing and gigging venues in London which offers a fantastic sound system, state of the art lights, an incredible troupe of dancers and masses of glitter and confetti!

What is more it’s less than a minute walk from Old Street Tube station.

#8 Spitalfields Market

The Old Spitalfields Market is a dynamic indoor market with more than 40 food stalls and 30 shops and lots of restaurants. It’s one of London’s oldest markets, having been running since 1638 in one form or another and is incredibly popular with locals and tourists alike.

Unlike many other markets, Spitalfields runs 7 days a week and includes a Thursday Antiques Market, the lively outdoor market that showcases home-made art, fashion and homewares and a live events schedule that runs throughout the year.

#9 Travel to work a different way every day

The same commute every day 5-7 days a week can be mind-numbing! But Shoreditch offers a range of different transport options including bus, overground and underground. And, with showers onsite at The Brew, we have found our members enjoy the occasional run (or jog) or cycle to keep their Fitbits happy.

Top tip: why not encourage your team to maximise the transport options by introducing themed travel days? For example, “Tube Tuesdays” and “Cycle Wednesdays”

#10 Explore the shops, stalls, and bars at Boxpark

Boxpark is the well-loved 'pop-up mall' that was a five-year project launched eight years ago. It offers an eclectic mix of independent shops, bars and events. The bottom level is filled with quirky design shops, coffee shops, and affordable restaurants.  While the top level features bars and late night eateries. It’s super compact and smack bang in the middle of Shoreditch.

#11 The place for new businesses, technology companies and start-ups

Start-ups offer energy, ambition and creativity that inspires other business. Being surrounded by like-minded businesses helps elevate growth. On every corner of Shoreditch, you’ll spot techies plotting excitedly over a business plan, or an entrepreneur passionately pitching their product. This area is positively brimming with talent and ingenuity.
