Another chance to win!
What would your business do with a free £5,000? If you can think of numerous ways to put that kind of money to good use, why not apply for the Small Business Grants July competition? It’s a fantastic initiative and a great opportunity – and we’re not just saying that because Andrew, our very own MD, is a judge!
The Small Business Grants Initiative, run by SmallBusiness.co.uk, is awarding £5,000 to a deserving company every month, to invest in their growth. The money is a private business grant, and the most amazing thing is, you don’t need to worry about paying it back. Result!
May’s winner – Consequential Robotics
To give you a taste of what the judges look for, May’s grant was won by Consequential Robotics, an innovative bunch who make networked robots (or ‘robotic devices’ to use the technical term!) designed to help people maintain their independence as they age. The judging panel were impressed by the company’s strong mission, and disruptive nature.
April’s winner – Olly's Olives
And April’s winner was Olly’s Olives, which produces unpasteurized olives in snack pouches. Founder Olly Hiscocks says that pasteurizing olives kills most of the texture and flavour, so if you’ve only ever had olives in the UK, Olly’s product will be a bit of a revelation! There’s none of the bland flavour we’re used to here – instead, Olly’s Olives are flavoursome, juicy, and incredibly popular.
No minimum revenue requirement!
Back in May, in response to popular demand, the Small Business Grants Initiative changed its rules, removing the requirement of an annual turnover of £50,000 and £500,000 to be eligible. That means any business can enter July’s competition, as long as they have been incorporated for at least six months, and are actively trading.
How can you enter?
It’s free and easy to apply for the grant. You just need to fill in a Grant Application Form, which can be found on the Small Business Grants website here. You’ll need to provide contact details for yourself and your company, as well as detailing your mission, aspirations, turnover and so on. The more engaging your brand's story (and the more you can back your tale up with facts and figures) the better your chances! July’s competition closes at the end of the month – so you’ve got three weeks or so. Get applying!
